Buy from IKEA the Sortera waste sorting bin. I bought three to stack my bins on top of each other.

With sand paper, sand down the centre of each lid until it's no longer shiny. Wipe it down with a damp cloth to get rid of all the dust. Pat dry.

Use masking tape to cover the areas you don't want to paint. Paint the front of the bin lid with chalk board paint. Allow to dry, then add a second coat.

Once dry (overnight) you can use a chalk pen to write what each bin is for

Good for if you don't have a lot of space!
